There seem to be opportunities to interview for a higher responsibilities and also for different opportunities.

Promotion seems to be attainable, but I'm hesitant about the prospect of advancing beyond APS6, because EL-level staff seem to have a massively increased workload (resulting in regular unpaid overtime) that I don't feel is compensated for by the pay increase.
