Gender Equality at National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA)

Women's Network

We value our people—they’re at the heart of everything we do.

All staff should be able to bring their whole selves to work. A workplace that respects diversity results in a more productive and creative workplace that represents the entire population we serve.

Diversity networks enable staff from different backgrounds to come together. They create a safe space for staff to share experiences, ideas and connect.

The NIAA has 6 diversity networks, whose main goal is provide support and connection to employees in the network. Your level of involvement is up to you: you can join an email list, take part in network events, or join a network committee and help organise network events.

The Women’s Employee Network provides a way for all individuals who identify as women, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, queer and trans women, women living with a disability and others, to connect in a respectful environment.

The network promotes gender equality and supports members to succeed in their personal and professional lives. Its priorities are founded on driving cultural change, to support women to further their education, networks and experience to survive and thrive. The network promotes women's career success by facilitating opportunities for learning, networking and career mobility and encouraging flexible approaches to work. The Women's Network aims to create a diverse and safe environment so that women are able to experience personal and professional growth.
