Cultural & Linguistic Diversity at National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA)

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Network (CALD)

We value our people—they’re at the heart of everything we do.

All staff should be able to bring their whole selves to work. A workplace that respects diversity results in a more productive and creative workplace that represents the entire population we serve.

Diversity networks enable staff from different backgrounds to come together. They create a safe space for staff to share experiences, ideas and connect.

The NIAA has 6 diversity networks, whose main goal is provide support and connection to employees in the network. Your level of involvement is up to you: you can join an email list, take part in network events, or join a network committee and help organise network events.

The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Network provides a forum to promote the benefits of diversity and the value staff from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds bring to the NIAA and the APS more broadly.

It also aims to promote opportunities to support the success, development and inclusion of culturally and linguistically diverse staff in the NIAA. It is a supportive space to make connections and have safe and robust discussions about issues of interest for people from CALD backgrounds.
