The department fosters a culture of inclusion and respect and is committed to ensure the workplace is supportive of all people.

The department’s Pride Network works to:

  • increase awareness and understanding of LGBTIQA+ issues
  • support the development and implementation of LGBTIQA+ related workplace diversity and inclusion initiatives within the department
  • promote and support a culture of diversity, safety and inclusion.

The Network does this through:

  • welcoming and supporting LGBTIQA+ staff
  • promoting advocacy and awareness
  • organising community visibility and events
  • connection and networking
  • reviewing policies.

Network membership is open to anyone who identifies as LGBTIQA+ and to allies committed to supporting the community.

In the 2022 APS Census 10.2% of departmental staff identified as LGBTIQA+.
