Gender Equality at Department of Industry, Science and Resources

The department is inclusive of all staff, is welcoming of all genders, and aims to provide and pursues gender equity with an ‘intersectional lens’.

The Gender Equity Network (GEN) at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources aims to make the department a more inclusive place to work by influencing cultural and organisational change, and promoting gender equity.

The Network:

  • seeks to be inclusive of all departmental staff
  • is welcoming of all genders
  • aims to challenge gender stereotypes for both men and women
  • is committed to pursuing gender equity with an 'intersectional lens'

The GEN Executive organises a range of activities and opportunities for staff in national, state and territory offices. This work includes delivering events, organising networking and mentoring opportunities, supporting career development, and advocating on barriers to gender equity.

Membership is open to all employees.

In the 2022 APS Census, 53.7% of departmental staff identified as a woman/female, and 0.8% identified as non-binary (or another term).
