LGBTQ+ at Western Power

At Western Power we believe in creating a culture where people feel valued for who they are, what they bring and how they thrive.

At Western Power we believe in creating a culture where people feel valued for who they are, what they bring and how they thrive - irrespective of their sexuality, gender identity, gender expression or intersex status.

At Western Power we broadly align our diversity and inclusion goals with those of Public Sector Commission of WA. These goals identify the most under-represented employee groups in WA., People of diverse sexualities and genders make up around 11% of the Australian community.

While the WA Public Sector Commission currently does not measure representation of this demographic group, we strive to ensure our workplaces are inclusive and reflective of the needs of this employee group.

Western Power participates in the national benchmarking survey - AWEI (Australian Workplace Equality Index). By utilising our own survey data in comparison with 42,000 other survey participant data, we can start to capture the lived experience and subsequently measure the impact of LGBTQ+ inclusion initiatives at Western Power.

Utilising the principles of A.C.E. (Advocate, Celebrate, Educate), our employee network group - DSG (diverse sexualities and genders) participates in the Diversity and Inclusion Committee forums bi-monthly, and drives change through various events, seminars, conferences and initiatives across the year.
