Treasury continues to identify and implement initiatives to celebrate and harness the unique skills, attributes and backgrounds of all individuals and teams, and to foster a work environment where there is an opportunity for everyone to contribute, participate and achieve their full potential.

Treasury fosters an inclusive culture and capitalises on the diversity of skills, talents, and experiences of its workforce to develop effective economic and fiscal policy. This supported at the highest levels in Treasury by Senior Executive Champions:

  • Culturally and/or Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds
  • LGBTIQ+.

Gender Equity at Treasury

Treasury is committed to gender equality in all areas of the department. Treasury continues to foster a more inclusive workplace by ensuring access to jobs and career pathways at all levels, in all work areas, regardless of gender. 

Key achievements and Initiatives

  • Since 2011, PWi has increased the number of women employed in the department, including in the Senior Executive Service. Of the 6 Executive Board members, 4 are women. PWi continues to be a critical voice in fostering an inclusive workplace for all Treasury staff and creating opportunities for both women and men to contribute to the workplace at their full capacity.
  • In addition, Treasury is an accredited Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace to support those with young families, and a signatory on the Diversity Council Australia’s #IStandForRespect pledge.
  • Treasury proactively continues to progress strategies to create an inclusive workplace, which is supported by the employee-led Progressing Women Initiative (PWI) and the Gender Equality Committee.
