Parents & Carers at TSA Management

Parental leave doesn’t hold you back at TSA.

TSA people are entitled to 12 weeks’ paid parental leave (on top of legislative requirements). If the parent chooses to take additional, unpaid parental leave (within the first 12 months of parental leave), TSA continues to pay superannuation contributions. Partners of primary care givers are entitled to 4 weeks’ paid parental leave too.

Provided below is an outtake from an interview with one of our people about the transition back to work after parental leave.

Our Health sector expert reflects on her return to work after parental leave, currently navigating full-time work with a one-year-old child.

"I maintained open dialogue with my team during leave to agree on a return date," she shared.

Negotiating return with TSA was seamless, accommodating her readiness. "I initially agreed to part-time work but later transitioned to full-time," she added.

Balancing family needs with work, especially on large projects, has been challenging. Yet, TSA's support ensures her family remains a priority.

Coaching sessions under TSA's parental leave policy were beneficial. "They helped manage my expectations of work and myself," she noted.

The best part of her return? "Reconnecting with projects and being recognised beyond just 'a mum'," she said.

“What I’ve loved most is being afforded the same opportunities as I would’ve had before going on parental leave. Easing back into work hasn’t held me back at all.”

“I’ve taken the opportunity and shown that I can push myself and TSA has acknowledged it immediately.

My experience is that some companies would be reluctant to promote women around the time of parental leave. At TSA, it comes down to whether you can do the job or not and getting the acknowledgement you deserve.”

Reflecting on her experience, Our Health sector expert values adjusting work habits for better health and delegation. Over the past year, she's learned to balance problem-solving at work with the unpredictability of parenting.
