Recruitment seems very non-biased. There is mandatory diversity training. Workplace feels quite safe and is fairly diverse.

The navy engineering branch is headed by some amazing female leadership in charge of every division. Inclusivity and diversity in all realms of LGBT, ethnic minorities, religions and women are driven and accepted across the department.

Very progressive, I had to do a lot of things during my induction which pertained to inclusion of minority groups, there are a lot of posters up championing inclusion. The environment feels very inclusive. Recruitment in my program was rather skewed to men (14/16 were male), but the previous year's recruitment was a 50/50 split on gender lines, which for engineering is very impressive. I haven't noticed any disparity within high ranks/positions between men and women. Within my department about half of the senior management staff are women.

Overall the Department of Defence has made a conscious effort to have a diverse workforce. Their engineering branch is still male dominated but that is changing quite quickly.

As this is an engineering environment, diversity with respect to women is a work in progress, however there are women in senior leadership roles which is nice to see!
