The construction industry was out of my comfort zone when I first started (and a little now, I’m still learning) so most of the experiences I have had here are a first for me!

A part of my job includes estimating how many vehicle trips a new development will generate, and how we can distribute these trips for better traffic management and flow.

The coolest thing about being an engineer is being able to see large-scale projects come to fruition. Being able to build relationships within your team and other teams within the organisation is also very satisfying as well as being able to work within a team that everyone can thrive in.

Through working at Austal, l have found myself doing things that are well outside my scope but have learnt to embrace those moments and learn which has helped immensely when l have to make decisions in my work, I have a more rounded approach in thinking.

I like being able to see the product of my design come to life and to imagine the transmission of loading through the structure.

The feeling of being challenged with a task that has not yet been implemented before and finding a solution is the most rewarding part of my role and one of the coolest things in general in software engineering.

One of the tasks that I enjoy the most is when we come together as a team to discuss a problem and brainstorm solutions. It's great to hear everyone's point of view and ideas and to work together to find the best solution.
