Why you should attend

This event is the perfect opportunity to meet and network with prospective employers and gain some great networking and self-marketing skills. It also gives you the opportunity to:

  • Gain first-hand information about an employer, the structure and operation of the organisation, their vacation program, recruitment processes and other employment opportunities
  • Mingle with employers (promoting vacation programs and internships), as well as professional association bodies (who can give you insight into ways to progress through the industry of your choice)
  • Learn about jobs in aged care you can star now, while you’re studying
  • Collect application information and learn how to improve your chances of gaining a position
  • Explore career opportunities and work out what you are looking for from an employer
  • Make a good first impression before applying for a position

How to prepare

  • Register for the expo and be sure to record it in your diary or e-calendar and set a reminder. Do whatever works best for you.
  • Review the list of the exhibiting employers prior to the expo. Read their profiles, decide which ones you want to meet and prepare a few questions to ask.
  • Attend any workshops before the event that will help you to prepare and make the most of the expo.

What to do on the day

  • After you talk to each employer write down important information you learned that may be helpful in your application.
  • Make a positive first impression. The first thing the employer sees is what you’re wearing. No need for a suit – business casual is the way to go.
  • Make the most of the expo by talking to as many exhibitors as possible, including the companies you may not have heard of before.
  • Fill out our feedback form on the day to go into the draw to win some awesome prizes!
  • Visit our Careers Central stall to get your resume reviewed to ensure that it’s ready to go for your grad program applications!
