About this scholarship

Background: This Scholarship was established in 1979 by a bequest from Moira Brooke Moore in memory of her father Dr John Brooke Moore.

This Scholarship is available to coursework and research postgraduate surgery students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Open to:

  1. This Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in studies in one of the following degrees in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.
    • Master of Surgery by Coursework,
    • Master of Surgery by Research,
    • Master of Philosophy, or
    • Doctor of Philosophy. 
  2. Applicants enrolling in postgraduate research degrees must conduct research into surgery.
  3. Applicants must be a graduate of the former Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney.
  4. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent resident or New Zealand citizen.

 Value and Duration:

For Postgraduate Coursework Students: A successful full-time recipient of this Scholarship will be provided with $25,000 per annum for up to one year, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

For Postgraduate Research Students: A successful full-time recipient of this Scholarship will be provided with an annual stipend allowance of $40,000 per annum for up to one year, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
