COVID-19 has been a unique and difficult challenge for food service businesses and individuals. This free course in infection control is designed for those in food service to help manage the ongoing risk of coronavirus in the workplace.

The HLTSS00066 Infection Control Skill Set (Food Handling) course provides you and your team with practical knowledge and skills on how to help keep the workplace and the broader community safe.

Infection control practices have changed the way you work in a COVID-19 environment. You'll learn methods customised to your workplace to stop the spread of COVID-19 in a food handling workplace by learning and understanding:

  • Measures to facilitate social distancing
  • Measures to protect customers and retail workers
  • Hand hygiene
  • Sanitising and disinfecting
  • Enhanced cleaning regimes
  • Monitoring staff for illness and directions to workers to stay at home if unwell
  • Incident Procedures and Reporting

Entry requirements

This skill set is aimed at currently employed workers in customer-facing roles in the food handling sector.

All potential learners will undertake a pre-training review to asses:

  • Your support requirements to enable the you to undertake the course and achieve the course outcomes.
  • Your interest and/or relevant experience
  • Your previous educational achievements and experience
  • Your level of digital literacy
  • A training plan to inform what the course will cover and what you can expect in terms of learning and assessment
