About this scholarship

The Samuel and Eileen Gluyas Fellowship was established in 1980 by a bequest to the University under the will of Samuel Laurie Gluyas of the sum of $150,000, which constitutes the Gluyas Bequest Fund. The recipient of the award shall be known as the "Samuel and Eileen Gluyas Fellow".

Am I eligible?

If all the below statements describe you and your current situation, you can apply for this scholarship:

  • I am an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent visa holder;
  • I am a graduate in the field of veterinary science, rural science, animal science, biomedical science or agriculture; and
  • I am or will be a Masters or Doctorate student, conducting research in relation to diseases of cattle, breeding of cattle, or general cattle husbandry.

What would I receive?

The value of the scholarship is determined from time to time, but will usually be the value of a Postgraduate Stipend, plus $4,000 shall be made available to assist with expenses relating to a Fellow's research.

How do I apply?

Prior to completing an application, you should carefully read the Scholarship Rules below. Applicants wanting to apply for this scholarship must attach the following documents:

  • A certified copy of your birth certificate, passport or permanent visa;
  • A certified copy of your academic record from any other academic institution;
  • No more than three references attesting to the applicant's good character, research abilities, professional experience and/ or suitability to receive the scholarship;
  • Their curriculum vitae; and
  • Any other supporting documentation that would assist the Selection Committee in developing an opinion as to the merit of the application.

When applying for a scholarship it is very important that you answer all the questions and include all relevant documents.  Your application and relevant documents must be submitted before the closing date. If an application is incomplete, it will not be considered..
