About this course

The Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping prepares you for a role in the Accounts industry.

You will learn how to prepare and lodge business and instalment activity statements, prepare financial reports and operation budgets, and establish and maintain a payroll or computerised accounting system. You will also learn the basics of Cloud computing, and develop strategies for dealing with the Commissioner on behalf of a taxpayer.

This course can be studied on-campus, or as part of a Traineeship and off-campus.

This course is available as part of the Free TAFE scheme as well as the JobTrainer initiative, for eligible students.

Before being accepted into the course you must:

  • Attend an interview
  • Undertake a Pre-training Review to document your previous work experience and qualifications and assess your suitability for the course
  • Complete a CSPA test to ensure you have the required language, literacy and numeracy levels required for the course
  • Please apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider (australianapprenticeships.gov.au) with your employer to organise your traineeship contract prior to applying for this course (Trainees Only)

The selection criteria for this course are:

  • Ability to undertake training at this qualification level
  • Literacy and numeracy skills of an appropriate level
  • Keen interest in this Industry sector
  • Ability to communicate with others
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel and use of the Internet to a basic level
  • Ability to organise study and work independently
