Turn your passion for tech into a fulfilling career. The Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology is the first step to a successful career in the IT industry. You'll learn about the latest technology innovations, including Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual and Augmented Reality, and best practice cybersecurity.

Our face-to-face learning environment and facilities mean you get the chance to practice skills as you go, so you can graduate with the confidence to tackle whatever problems come your way. Key areas of focus include diagnosing common computer-related problems, administering computer systems and basic network systems, and advanced features of both systems.

This course is delivered on-campus, as a traineeship in the workplace and as a VET in Schools course. We'll support you to balance study and work, and you'll gain valuable on-the-job experience that will boost your CV and give you the confidence to go out into the workforce.

This course is available as part of the JobTrainer initiative for eligible students.

Before being accepted into the course applicants must:

  • Attend an interview
  • Undertake a Pre-training Review to document previous work experience and qualifications and assess suitability for the course
  • Complete a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA) test to ensure the required language, literacy and numeracy levels are met for the course
  • Please apply through an Apprenticeship Network Provider with your employer to organise your apprenticeship/traineeship contract prior to applying for this course. (Trainees only)
  • For VET in Schools courses, please ask your School's VET coordinator or Careers advisor to apply for this course.

The selection criteria for this course are:

  • Ability to undertake training at this qualification level
  • Literacy and numeracy skills of an appropriate level
  • Keen interest in this Industry sector
  • Ability to communicate with others
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel and use of the Internet to a basic level
  • Ability to organise study and work independently
  • It is preferred that students complete this qualification prior to enrolling in the 22334VIC Certificate IV in Cybersecurity

Credit for prior study or work

Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.

You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:

  • Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.
