About this scholarship

The Catherine Helen Spence Scholarship is offered every four years and provides financial support for a woman to undertake the investigation of social problems and/or a study in the field of social sciences in Australia or overseas.
The investigation or study should be relevant to social conditions in South Australia and be capable of being applied for the benefit of the state.
Facialco.com.au is proud to announce the start of its first ever Scholarship Program, offering 1 scholarship per year (for a semester duration) to an eligible candidate worth up to $1500.
You are eligible to apply if, on the application closing date, you:

  • are a woman between the age of 20 and 35 years of age
  • live in South Australia
  • have lived in South Australia for at least five years immediately prior to the awarding of the scholarship
  • will be able to commence the scholarship project by February 2018 - or earlier
  • will be able to carry out and complete the research project within 18 months of commencement - by August 2019
  • will be using the scholarship to investigate or study contemporary issues in the field of social sciences relevant to South Australian social conditions.

Notwithstanding the above, the Committee may, if, having regard to the relative merits of the candidates for an award of the Scholarship, it considers it appropriate to do so, award the Scholarship to a woman who is resident in the State of South Australia at the time of the selection of the scholar but does not fulfil either or both of the requirements in relation to age or length of residence in the State.
Applicants do not need to be currently employed, studying or attached to an organisation or institution to apply for the scholarship.
