What attracted you to apply to Viva Energy?
I was initially attracted to apply to Viva Energy from what I heard of their excellent work culture. Personally, having a healthy work culture was my top priority when I began applying for graduate positions after completing my studies. This was only second to flexible working arrangements which VIVA was very accommodating towards, as they prioritise the wellbeing of their staff and encourage a healthy work life balance. The way VIVA operates completely changed my perception of what I expected working in a corporate environment to be like. The relatively flat hierarchy and welcoming atmosphere makes VIVA an amazing organisation to work for.
What do you love about your work?
What I really enjoy about my work is that I’m able to use the skills and tools I’ve learnt through my studies and apply them to tasks which challenge me. The nature of the work is also consistently changing, which makes the diversity of projects and BAU tasks very interesting on a week to week and quarterly basis. Being around my colleagues’ friendly and warm aura throughout my work days when we’re in the office is another positive, where they provide me with amazing guidance and support when I seek out their assistance or advice. They have encouraged me to realise my strengths, given me constructive feedback and pointed me in the right direction when I have faced challenges. Additionally, the ability to see the value my work brings to other individuals and departments at VIVA is also an amazing feeling, where the work I do feels like it has an impact.
How has the graduate program supported you in launching your career?
VIVA Energy’s graduate program has provided a solid platform to launch my career, especially in the industry of data. They have access to a large variety of industry standard platforms and are always open to trying out new software and technologies. This provided excellent exposure and on the job training, where I’m able to both apply my knowledge and develop new skills in a variety of areas within a safe learning environment. VIVA’s commitment to encouraging a culture of curiosity and continuous learning has empowered me to take on more difficult tasks or projects during my transition to full time work and take ownership of my own learning.
