About RSM UK

RSM is one of the world’s largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. They are a fast-growing firm with big ambitions – they have a clear goal to become the premium adviser to the middle market, globally.

Your role

What does the accounting and business advisory team do?

  • The accounting and business advisory team makes sure companies’ financial statements comply with government regulations and industry standards. They also advise on business strategies, provide companies with financial forecasts and prepare management accounts that show an accurate picture of business performance.
  • Their work helps put a set of figures into perspective. Help their clients understand what the management accounts actually say about the state of their business and help them identify key areas where they could improve performance.
  • They also provide daily advice to clients across a wide range of industry sectors. Many do not have in-house advisers who can help them deal with day-to-day issues, so their team is often the first port of call when they have financial or business-related questions.

Training & development

At RSM, you’ll be a key member of their team from day one. Their placement programme allows you to experience working in the accounting and business advisory team alongside current trainees and experienced members of the firm. You’ll get involved in client work very quickly, and get the chance to learn about different types of businesses from varying industry sectors. This hands-on early experience is invaluable as you take the next steps in your career. You’ll also benefit from on-the-job training from more senior members of the team and gain access to their internal training courses that will help you develop in the role.

Benefits

RSM offers competitive salaries, benefits, and a working environment where you’re valued as part of the team. Benefits include:

  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Private medical insurance and other health benefits
  • Subsidised gym memberships
  • Employee assistance
  • Interest-free loans
  • Pension scheme
  • Life assurance
  • Critical illness cover

Career progression

At RSM, you’ll discover a career that nurtures individuality and an environment where everyone is supported to reach their potential. If you perform well, you could be given the opportunity to join one of their Graduate training programmes that will help you kick-start your business career. With RSM, you’ll always be moving forward.

Work-life balance

At RSM they work hard to create an environment where their people can make a difference - to themselves, their career, their teams, and to the success of their firm and clients. They support all their people to work flexibly, to manage their family and other responsibilities alongside their work commitments; they believe this is key to achieving an inspiring and fulfilling working environment.

Culture & vibe

At RSM, they want to create a strong sense of belonging so that people of all identities, backgrounds, and cultures feel they can bring their true selves to work. Diverse teams bring a broader range of ideas and insights to work. That’s why they're working together to ensure their firm’s principles and processes support a firm culture that embraces difference and strengthens inclusion.

About you

What does RSM look for?

  • They are on the lookout for enthusiastic self-starters who are always up for a challenge. Accounting and business advisory is a technically demanding discipline, so they look for students who are quick to grasp new subjects.
  • It’s important you also have confidence with numbers and great attention to detail.
  • You’ll often need to explain complex financial information, so you’ll need excellent written and verbal communication skills. What separates them from their competitors is the financial acumen they demonstrate and they expect that right from the start from their people.

Entry requirements:

  • At RSM, they don't just look for good exam results. They think passion, personality and originality are just as important.

You will need:

  • 112 UCAS points across 3 A Levels or an equivalent level 3 qualification, or 104 UCAS points across 4 Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers or Irish Leaving Certificate (Higher Level);
  • A predicted honours degree.
