Rajneel Deo

Today we are test fitting and installing these things that are called jack moons into our shelters. These little plugs are installed to seal the holes so that no water can enter when wires are not being run through into the shelter.

Hi everyone, I’m Raj, and I am part of the Graduate Program at nbn. I am currently in my third and final rotation as a part of the Network Assurance & Power team. Within my 6-month role in this team, I will be moving around 2 other smaller teams within this team. Today I will be documenting my life as a graduate while working within the Network Emergency Management (NEM) and the Temporary Network Infrastructure (TNI) teams.

7.00 AM

I typically wake up around this time and get ready for work. I usually don’t have breakfast, but I’ll have a coffee or energy drink once I’m in the office.

8.00 AM

I leave the house around this time as I need to drop my sister off at school today before I head to the office. Today is a special day as I will be heading to one of our TAND (Transit Aggregation Nodes and Depots) sites instead of the main office in the city.

9.05 AM

I arrived at work a little late due to traffic, but my first meeting for the day doesn’t start until 9.15 am, so during this time, I check my emails and schedule for the day. Here is how my desk is set up for today (Display settings still need to be fixed).

9.15 AM

Today, I have my weekly NEM stand-up meeting where we typically talk about the work we will be working on for the week and if there’s anything we are stuck on.

10.00 AM

I head outside to our depot to meet up with some of the field technicians working on the shelters. Today we are test fitting and installing these things that are called jack moons into our shelters. These little plugs are installed to seal the holes so that no water can enter when wires are not being run through into the shelter.

Once the jack moons were installed, I conducted a quality check on the shelters to ensure everything is up to spec and no damages have been found.

I had a meeting with another NEM team member where we talked about a project we are currently working on. We are creating a PowerPoint to present to our manager.

12.30 PM

Lunch time! I forgot to bring my lunch in today, but luckily my team decided to go out for lunch today. We went to a café near our office, and I decided to have the granola bowl #healthylife.

1.30 PM

Back from lunch, and now it’s back to work. I went back into the depot and worked with a teammate on outlining and documenting our rack layouts for the Network on Wheels (NOW) trailer. These trailers have been tested and rearranged a lot, and so the layout diagram needed to be updated. I also have a meeting during this time, so I’ll be attending that from my phone.

Another team member arrived at the depot, and I’ll be helping him with wiring the alarm system on our Multi-Tech Trailers (MTT).

These trailers are designed to replace damaged assets while they require prolonged repairs.

I had a catchup with my grad buddy. We usually have these catch ups 2-3 times a week to see how we are going.

The days are almost done so to finish off, I’m going to finish off some of the learning modules that have been assigned to me to complete. These learning modules have been assigned to me by the TNI and NEM team for me to gain a better understanding of nbn technology.
