Leidos Story

Founded in 1969 by J. Robert Bob Beyster in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego, California, Leidos provides scientific, engineering, systems integration, and technical services. Earlier, it was formed as Science Applications Incorporated (SAI) with a focus on projects for the U.S. government related to nuclear power and weapons effects study programs. Later, it was renamed Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and also expanded its operations.

In August 2012, SAIC announced its plans to split operations into two publicly traded companies. One part expanded operations in systems engineering, technical assistance, financial analysis, and program office support while the other part specialized in technology for the national security, health, and engineering sectors. It merged with Lockheed Martin’s It Sector, Information Systems & Global Solutions in 2016 to create the largest IT service provider in the defense industry.

Leidos works exclusively with the United States Department of Defense, the United States Intelligence Community, and the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Here’s a little about the Leidos business…

Civil: It works to improve energy efficiency, the environment, and federal infrastructure, and helps manage over 43,000 flights every day.

Defense: It provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for worldwide customers.

Health: It helps improve healthcare by providing the most advanced technologies in science, research, and consulting.

Intelligence: It supports agencies to defend against evolving threats by using a range of capabilities in Data Analytics, Enterprise IT, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.

Dynetics-LInC: Dynetics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos and provides applied research and national security solutions for solving some of the toughest scientific and engineering issues.

Today, Leidos is a big name providing countless employment opportunities to job seekers as well as internship programs for students and recent graduates.
