General Electric Company (GE) is an American multinational conglomerate operating in different sectors. Headquartered in Boston, GE was founded in 1892 and it was one of the original 12 companies listed on the newly formed Dow Jones Industrial Average in 1896. With time, it participated in markets that include generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, motors, industrial automation, medical imaging equipment, aircraft jet engines, and aviation services. 

With a presence in over 100 countries, it also offers a range of financial services through GE Consumer Finance, GE Commercial Finance, GE Equipment Services, and GE Insurance. GE Industrial is a popular division providing Consumer and Industrial products including appliances, electrical distribution, and lighting while GE Enterprise Solutions deals with digital energy, security, Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, and sending & inspection technologies.

  • First, candidates will need to apply for their preferred position through an application form and submit the details. 
  • The selected applicants will be called for interviews and there will be a first and second interview. 
  • Those clearing the first and second interviews will be called for the final contract discussion. 
  • Candidates clearing the final interview will get the offer letter or there may be additional interviews depending upon the job role. 

The recruitment process may take up to 3-4 months depending on the type of job and location. The company also visits Management and Engineering campuses to hire the best talent while candidates can also apply from the company’s official website.

Controversies 

In 2019, Harry Markopolos, a financial fraud investigator, criticized GE for being a ‘bigger fraud than Enron’. He alleged $38 billion in accounting fraud but GE denied all allegations of fraud or wrongdoing. Another controversy took place in 2020 when GE reported it received a Wells Notice from the Securities and Exchange Commission. The notice was about taking civil action for possible violations of security laws.
