Business Streams:

Participants enter our Graduate Programme by joining one of our three business streams: Construction, Infrastructure Services, or Utilities.

Construction

Every day, our Construction teams are involved in building the transport infrastructure that connects and enhances the lives of communities across Australia.

Our diverse teams work together to deliver complex and major projects, such as road duplications, new bridges, rail upgrades, and airport runways. Delivering these exciting projects is no small task, but the lasting legacy they leave is big and tangible.

As the demand for infrastructure continues to grow, there has never been a better time to be part of changing the shape of Australia by building landmark projects for the benefit of our communities.

Infrastructure Services

Our Infrastructure Services business has a long, industry-leading history working on and maintaining the vast network of roads, ports and airports across Australia that take us to where we need to be, safer and sooner.

You might have seen our Infrastructure Services team spray sealing or paving your road, or around your local area making sure other road assets are maintained to the best possible standard.

You may even travel each day on the surfacing products that have been developed by our highly-skilled, dedicated technical staff and manufactured from our network of quarries, asphalt, emulsion and PMB plants.

Utilities

Our Utilities business brings its delivery expertise to some of the most important and essential daily services: water and telecommunications.

With many of these critical assets fast approaching the end of their life cycle, our Utilities team works collaboratively with major utilities providers to construct, augment and manage this ‘hidden’ infrastructure to provide greater reliability and certainty for the community.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Career Development Framework (CDF)

Our Career Development Frameworks are tailored to your area of specialisation (e.g. Construction Engineering, Accounting etc.), and clearly identify the skills, experience and competencies required for you to move along your career from a graduate right through to management.

As you move through the assessment criteria, you will be able to see the gaps you have, the learning and development opportunities to close these gaps and a clear career plan that puts you in control of your future.

Our career framework has been designed not just for Fulton Hogan, but also to align with standards used across the construction industry in Australia and internationally.

Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program is designed to foster the development of our Graduates as you transition off the program and into your career, obtaining valuable input from experienced and respected leaders in our business. Contact may be virtual or face-to-face, and formal catch-ups generally occur once a month, but may happen more frequently if required.

Professional Associations

Fulton Hogan has strong working partnerships with industry associations and support our employees joining and gaining professional registration.

Engineers Australia

Our graduates commence on their journey to becoming Chartered with Engineers Australia on joining our graduate program.

Chartership is an internationally recognised competency-based accreditation, which will provide you with a competitive advantage for your career.

To ease the process of becoming chartered, our Engineering Career Development Framework is aligned to the Engineers Australia competencies.

Chartered Accountant (CA)

The CA Program is made up of five Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting (GradDip CA) modules and a period of mentored practical experience.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • I think the best thing about the company is the open working culture within colleagues. I was a bit scared as I am a chemical engineer but I was about to work in a construction/civil company. But, as soon as I started, I felt welcomed and at ease. The team I started with was just amazing and helped me settle in perfectly. Couldn't have asked for a better start.
  • Extremely supportive and friendly seniors that encourages, guides and mentors graduate to excel in their roles and provides opportunities to gain exposure/ experience in the industry.
  • The opportunities to learn, being given the time and space to travel between sites, to train and learn new things or refresh old skills. Having a team of incredible people that I can turn to for support and ask questions!
  • The atmosphere is super friendly that fosters growth and collaboration. The abundance of amazing learning opportunities to equip me with valuable skills and knowledge, complemented by a well-structured graduate program.
  • I think the best thing is the opportunity to work alongside a wide range of people and disciplines, opening your eyes to so many different skill sets. This gives you the opportunity to constantly learn, particularly as I am not from a construction or engineering background. Everybody in my direct and wider team is open to assisting me as well as having a laugh while still delivering great outcomes for the community. I really enjoy the top-down positive and cohesive environment that the team here provides, in more ways than one. I really enjoy working here!
  • You have to be quite adaptable, given the organisation's requirements are constantly changing you have to switch up what you are doing quite frequently.
  • Work Life Balance.
  • Long Working Hours, and Very Remote Place.
  • Long commute time to different projects.
  • Sometimes I work long hours (I like my job and the work, so I'm okay with it, but others may not be).
