A great perk of working at FTI Consulting is we get to wear business casual attire on Fridays, so today I am putting on my jeans as I feel the weekend approaching!

5.30 AM

My alarm goes off and it's time for me to get up and go to the gym. If I don't go in the morning, I will not be going after a day of work! After the gym, I quickly get ready for work, we’ve made it to Friday. A great perk of working at FTI Consulting is we get to wear business casual attire on Fridays, so today I am putting on my jeans as I feel the weekend approaching!

8.20 AM

I am extremely lucky as I live very close to work. When I’m on the bus I take this opportunity to listen to a podcast. I usually get to work around 8.45 am. Once I arrive, I open my computer, have a quick read of my emails, check my diary, and make my to-do list for the day.

9.00 AM

It’s time for my first coffee! We are very lucky as we have quite a fancy coffee machine. While I make my coffee, I look out the window and admire the view. We happen to be on level 47, and I will never get sick of looking at that view!

9.30 AM

At the moment, I am involved in running a plantation company. Today I have to process the wages for all employees who work for this company. Once I have finished entering the payroll, I pass it on to my manager for approval. If there are no changes, it can be processed for payment.

10.30 AM

If it is someone's birthday, I will usually get an email around this time for the morning tea. This is a great time to catch up with the other teams in the office.

Once I get back to my desk, it’s time to enter all my payments and receipts for the day. I am working on a few different matters at the moment, and I have to ensure that I enter all new supplier invoices as they come in, make the payments to suppliers when they fall due, and receipt funds received from sales so that our system reflects what is in the bank account accurately.

12.30 PM

It's lunchtime! Usually, I bring lunch from home, if not though we are spoilt for choice for lunch options with where our office is located. I use this break to go for a 30-minute walk either on my own or with some colleagues. I find going for a walk a great way to have a break from the office and get my daily steps in. It also gives me an excuse to go out shopping.

1.30 PM

Back to work. I check my emails and see what I still need to get done for the rest of the day. Each week I usually have a few lodgements for the ATO or ASIC due. I try to start these a week in advance as we don’t want to be lodging these late! It feels a lot better knowing you are prepared at work and won’t be rushing around last minute to get tasks done.

2.30 PM

It’s now time for me to make a green tea (as I can’t have coffee past 1.00 pm!). As I head to the kitchen, there are a few other colleagues in there that I catch up with.

3.00 PM

It’s time for me to prepare for a meeting that I have every Monday. At this meeting, I will present what is going on around the market and new opportunities for FTI Consulting. This means every Friday I compile research into a spreadsheet that I will present to the team the following week.

4.30 PM

I read over my to-do list, checking that I've completed everything I wanted to for the day. I finish my timesheets and complete any outstanding tasks for the day.

5.00 PM

Just like that, we’ve made it through another week of work. It’s time to relax, the team all head to the kitchen to socialise and unwind.

7.00 PM

After Friday drinks at the office, I will usually catch up with my friends in the city. FTI Consulting is surrounded by so many great options to eat and drink in the city, so the possibilities of where we go are endless, it makes me feel extremely lucky to work where I do.

9.30 PM

I arrive home, and it’s time for me to go to bed. I look back on the week and think about all the new opportunities and experiences I’ve had just in the past 5 days, and I already can’t wait to see what next week has in stall for me!
