Culture at CSL

8.0
8.0 rating for Culture, based on 14 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
I am very satisfied with the culture, R&D for CSL Behring is relatively small and I know most people personally. Everyone is friendly and happy to chat on both a professional and personal level, even senior directors. We have a great Grad social group too.

Very casual, fairly flat structure. Everyone wants to support each other.

Within my team we all get along. Like most, there is a natural divide due to personality differences between a few, but I enjoy everyone's company. I send funny texts to one coworker in my team, and chat with another, as well as sometimes have a drink after work with them. Someone is always bringing in something to share and every milestone for every person is always celebrated and mentioned. I also connect with others outside my team too and have plans to start going to the gym with someone, and also have had dinners and drinks with a few others. These people are a mixture of techs, planners, supervisors and department heads, which we all relax and are able to be ourselves and chat after work, which I enjoy (despite them all being men and 10 years older than me (haha). For the graduates, as I previously said I don't connect with them as well. There are 21 of us and a lot of them connect very well since (in my eyes) they are a bit more on the immature side, and even outside of work they try to maintain VERY corporate and professional and can't relax. As a group lots of activities are organised and I attend the ones I would enjoy. Don't get me wrong, there are a number of the grads I get along with and have a great time hanging out with. I do appreciate the group always trying to organise activities to do together and they are always active, social or creative.

The culture is very friendly and open. Most people are happy for you to organise a chat to talk about their role or career. The hierarchy is clear, but there is a level of respect amongst everyone, and all the leaders in the company are very approachable. Due to the nature of the products we're making, collaboration is a necessity to ensure work is done properly. This often involves a lot of meetings or messages between many people, so teamwork is a big part of the cultrue.

I have so far experienced a non-hierarchical work culture; most senior leadership team have been approachable.

Socially, the culture at the company is great. People are friendly and very easy to get along with. There are many teams that allow Fridays to be quite casual and go out for lunches. However, there can be some difficulty in getting different teams to help each other out and due to the strict hierarchical structure there is pressure and overrulings that can come from above.

Collaboration could be improved but overall good team environment, everyone is supportive and friendly, always willing to help

Amongst the graduate community, we often go out together after work or during the weekend. It's great to have many people your age.

Great team work, where most people work together respectfully and in a cooperative manner

In office is good, friendly and respected. There is a bit of constant re-structure to my team which is somewhat unstable. Teamwork is great, lots of collaboration and support. After hours is the same, just that a vast majority is pulling constant long hours due to the nature of the project. Which in the long-term isn't healthy.

Office culture is strong and exposure to management within Australia is very good. There is some disconnect and poor communication from upper management outside of Australia. CSL is highly collaborative and everyone helps each other out. Outside of work culture is site specific. Due to the location of some sites, it is difficult to arrange social events outside of work. CSL Melbourne site and Tullamarine site have great outside work culture. Grad program across sites has a great outside of work culture.

While at my level there is a good work-life balance, I can see that at higher levels work-life balance is not ideal. People are generally friendly and work mostly well together.
