Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you take part in the following tasks:

Analysing line efficiency and line waste

  • Measure how well a production line or process is performing in terms of generating output compared to its maximum potential output.
  • How SBA can reach optimal production operation and indicate any areas for improvement, taking into factors that impact line efficiency, including equipment downtime, product defects, changeovers etc.
  • Identify any unnecessary or non-value-adding elements within the production process that contribute to line waste. E.G. Inventory (Excessive raw materials), Defects (Products that do not meet standard OR meet standard but have the wrong expiry date and are dumped, which can be sold at a discounted price)

Reduction of waste

  • Identify and categorise waste (E.G. time waste, environmental waste, solid waste)
  • Conduct waste audits
  • Suggest strategies that can assess and adjust waste reduction according to waste categories

Weight Scales

  • Ensure product quality, quantity and consistency (calibration)
  • Assess and implement processes that target accuracy (E.G. Ensuring the correct amount of product is dispensed into chip packets)

Set up processes for better visibility

  • Inventory management (E.G. How much film do we have left against planned production)

Track how much giveaway

  • This links back in with waste management and defects.
