Culture at Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

8.4
8.4 rating for Culture, based on 8 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
It feels like there is no hierarchy (even though there technically is one). Senior management and commissioners communicate with you directly even at a junior level.

Despite the public service system of hierarchy, the organization is in practice very flat. Even very junior staff have access to senior leadership and regularly brief them. Collaborative working is the standard. The social culture of teams varies a lot between branches and offices, some are very social and others not at all.

Perth office- little socializing amongst colleagues, teams seem strained at times.

The culture is pretty positive - the Melbourne office has a social club that organises drinks nights, sports days, the Christmas party etc. In my experience, most staff are very friendly and lots of friendships are formed among staff outside the office.

Teamwork is a huge part of the organization. We work collaboratively both within our teams and with other teams. I work closely with directors and senior managers and I have close relationships with them. The most senior executives at the organization are very personable and approachable so there is not an overwhelming sense of hierarchy. The organization is quite sociable outside work hours, particularly Graduate groups who are very close following the year in the Graduate program.
